Aboriginal Artist

Tamara Murray

Welcome to the world of Tamara May Murray, a proud First Nations artist with deep roots in the Barkindji, Wiradjuri, and Maurara tribes on her mother’s side, and the Yorta Yorta and Dudaroa tribes on her father’s side. Raised on the Namatjira Mission in the small country town of Coomealla, Tamara’s art is a reflection of her heritage, culture, and identity.

For Tamara, culture is the essence of life—serving as a means of healing, storytelling, and preserving the spirits and traditions of her people. It is the foundation of her connection to the land, a bond that shapes and inspires her creative journey.

Known for her sculptural pieces, murals, and paintings, Tamara’s work captures the stories, places, and individuals she has encountered throughout her life. Each piece carries a profound connection to her culture and the land, preserving the wisdom of generations past.

Through her art, Tamara seeks to break down the barriers between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, hoping to foster understanding, peace, and unity. Her mission is to create a world where children of all backgrounds walk hand in hand, embracing their differences and celebrating their shared humanity.

I love how ArtsyPod combines creativity with practicality. My case doesn’t just protect my phone—it turns it into a work of art!
